Conférence
Conférence de Naoko SHIMAZU (Université Yale – NUS/SciencesPo).
On the centenary of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference, we explore the Japanese participation through the framework of ‘diplomacy as theatre’. How did the Japanese attempt to project their presence at Paris? How did their notions of diplomatic performance differ from those of the other great powers? This talk suggests that a cultural approach can reveal new insights into the Japanese diplomacy at Paris.
